Join us as we celebrate the opening of the 2026 Brooklyn Art Book Fair with an evening of books, conversation, music, and community.
The Opening Reception marks the beginning of a weekend dedicated to independent publishing, artist books, print culture, and the expansive ways artists use books as sites for research, experimentation, organizing, and exchange. Gather with participating exhibitors, artists, publishers, writers, designers, and readers from across New York and beyond as we welcome this year's fair.
Throughout the evening, visitors are invited to explore previews from participating exhibitors, meet members of the Brooklyn Art Book Fair community, and connect over refreshments before the fair opens to the public the following day.
Whether you're a longtime collector, an artist making your first publication, or simply curious about contemporary publishing, the Opening Reception offers an opportunity to begin the weekend in conversation with the people shaping independent print culture today.

Recess and the Brooklyn Art Book Fair are committed to creating an accessible, welcoming, and safe environment for all visitors, exhibitors, volunteers, and staff. Masks are required indoors at all times throughout the fair.
The spaces at Recess and Garage Studios are fully accessible for wheelchair users and their restrooms are gender neutral and ADA compliant. The Assembly Room, where programs will be held, is located up one flight of stairs.
