A play, a play of a soap opera. It was a lesbianized Christmas story cast with a revolving set of close friends. It was all about who plays the lesbian. I needed water, I was dehydrated and whatever was happening next would cost ten dollars. It was so crowded we would never get in. The show was great, a real success and the stage was mobbed after. People were laughing and cheering but the particularity of their enjoyment was extremely nebulous. We walked out with a sort of high step to find water and A.K. asked if I had left the car like that, nodding to a double parked, Lexus-style engorged SUV. I assured her that I had parked next to the curb. The creator of the play was linked arm and arm with me and announced that she might do something like start an internet magazine and it would be amazing and we could all be a part of it. I wanted to yell at her that it was NOT HER IDEA. Then I realized that I had recently slept with a good friend, someone I had never considered sleeping with before and all I could think about was if I had been a good lay and if she remembered.
