Faked/Out features a series of writing workshops, guest speakers, and film screenings that will contextualize fake news within a significant, cross-disciplinary tradition of fakeness and will create opportunities for visitors to alternately interrogate and experiment with the practice of faking it in their own lives. Event Description: Filmmaker (Video Remains, Dear Gabe), producer (The Watermelon Woman), author, and Chair of the Film Department at Brooklyn College, CUNY, Alexandra Juhasz is a renowned scholar of feminist film history, AIDS documentary, and radical uses of digital media. Co-editor (with Jesse Lerner) of the book F is for Phony: Fake Documentary and Truth’s Undoing, Juhasz will be on hand to introduce and discuss her penetrating new body of critical writing on the hard truths of fake news.
Access Information: The entrance to Recess is up four steps. During all events and public hours, you may request ramp access using the buzzer to the left of the door. The bathroom is all-gender and ADA approved with three grab bars. We will do our best to accommodate requests for ASL interpretation or captioning.
